About

Terrell Villiers (they/them) is a multidisciplinary visual artist, animator, designer, and producer. Internationally recognized for their vivid, neo-futuristic queer cartoons, Villiers explores the complexities of identity through themes of community, resistance, grief, and spiritual awakening. Their work invites audiences into layered, fantastical narratives, cycles and illusions that must be unraveled in the pursuit of authenticity and liberation.

Drawing inspiration from their British-Jamaican-American heritage and the radical sanctuary of queer community, Villiers centers Black queer and trans bodies as sacred, sovereign, and sensually alive. Through stylized, monumental characters and immersive dreamscapes, they create space for intergenerational healing, pleasure, and power. While celebrating the kaleidoscopic realities of queer existence. At the core of their practice is a commitment to cultural preservation: honoring and uplifting the legacies of Black queer and trans individuals in spaces where these stories have long been marginalized. Their ongoing series, Club Oasis, imagines a futuristic underwater refuge for queer people of color, while projects like Myristica, a comic book etherealizing experimental artist Kelsey Lu, exemplify their vision for expansive, multidimensional storytelling.

Villiers has been commissioned, featured, or exhibited by global brands and institutions including Gucci, Apple, Prada, HBO Max, Loro Piana, Oolite Arts, PAPER, Kanon: K21, Red Stripe, Times Square Arts, and Cromwell Place, and has appeared in publications such as Vogue Italia, Frieze, Creative Review, Cultured Magazine, It’s Nice That, BULLY, The Face, WePresent, and Kaleidoscope.

Villiers has participated in prestigious artist residencies such as Anderson Ranch Arts Center and Villa Lena Tuscany and spoken on artist panels including PRIZM Art Fair’s: Black Freedom & The Queer Community. In 2025, they were awarded the Silas H. Rhodes Merit Scholarship upon their acceptance into the critically acclaimed BFA 2D Animation program at the School of Visual Arts. While simultaneously onboarding as the newest Lead Visual Designer for dynamic cultural arts institution, The Kitchen .

Through illustration, animation, and visual design, Villiers offers an evolving archive: one that expands the visual language of liberation, ensures the preservation of queer Black futures, and dares to imagine worlds where we not only survive, but thrive.
